Construction kicks off this week at the Carbondale Park & Ride for an expansion of the WE-cycle station. Due to high demand for bikeshare services at the Park & Ride, the station’s capacity will be doubled and transformed into an e-bike charging hub. The bikeshare station will undergo enhancements without relocation. The expansion involves extending the concrete pad to accommodate more charging docks and installing a solar charging unit
for e-bikes.
The Town of Carbondale Public Works Department will spearhead the construction efforts. Starting this week, preparations will include trenching for electrical conduit and cordoning off the construction zone for safety.
Over the following weeks, site preparation will continue, with the pouring of concrete for the expanded pad and electrical installations. The target is to have the work wrapped up and the site operational by May 1.
Throughout construction, we aim to minimize disruptions. While work crews may be present around the restrooms and the bikeshare station area, parking inconveniences will be kept to a minimum. The bike parking adjacent to the restrooms and the bikeshare station will remain operational and open to the public throughout construction.
Stay tuned for further announcements, and thank you for your patience and support as we make Carbondale even more bike-friendly!
